Synopsis

Alfio intends to spend his day off on the balcony, reading and relaxing, but his peace
and quiet is interrupted by a phone call from his boss ordering him to go to work for a
replacement. From that moment on, every emotion Alfio feels but is forced to repress
due to haste, circumstance or shame, turns into a surreal phenomenon. The colours
of his clothes begin to leave the contours of his figure, until, at the end of the day, he
realises he is completely drained and transparent. Only then does he realise that he has
underestimated something important and finds the courage to ask for help.

Director's note

I have often found myself noticing how, in adult life, the space everyone can devote to their emotional sphere is always too little compared to what they
are forced to set aside for work and practical tasks. In our society, it seems
to be much more important to be productive and functional, rather than to
be able to manage and express one’s own emotions and understand those
of others. However, I think it would be fundamental to pay more attention to what we feel, as it is an essential element of personal growth and buil-
ding positive relationships with those around us. From this reflection, the short animated film Alfio was born. During his day, the 30 years old protagonist experiences the most diverse emotions without ever having the chance to experience them fully and express them to others, untill he becomes more like a ghost than a human being.

Marianna Pasina

Director

Marianna Pasina (1992) is a designer and illustrator from Milan. During her studies in Design and Arts, thanks to the support of the Municipality of Bolzano, she realised with FrabiatoFilm the series of historical short films Nati con vestito, for which, together with Chiara Passarini, she took care of the research and wrote the screenplay. In 2016 she officially joined the FrabiatoFilm team, where she worked on the conception and development of the short films alongside Michela Parlavecchio. In 2019, together with Massimiliano Boschi and Alessio Vasarin, she works on the documentary Il mostro invisibile. At the same time, she deepens her training in illustration and animation by attending several courses at the Ars in Fabula school in Macerata and the IED in Milan. Alfio is the first animated short film she has written and directed.

Michela Parlavecchio

Producer

Michela Parlavecchio (1993) is an Italian producer and screenwriter from Bolzano. She graduated in Arts with a thesis on apocalyptic cinema and, in 2014, during her studies, she founded the production company Frabiatofilm in Bolzano together with Alessio Vasarin. She continues her training in filmmaking by participating in various workshops in the field of production, including Forward (2021) held by Nadia Trevisan and Erica Barbiani. She works as a producer together with Alessio Vasarin and director Giulia Palaia. Between 2021 and 2022 she completes a mentoring course with producer Giovanni Pompili. At the same time she dedicates herself to screenwriting, attending two courses in writing for the cinema at the Holden school. Since 2021 he has been vice-president of the Film category in the South Tyrol Union of Trade, Tourism and Services.
